The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing and assisting with all daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting functions to include, but not limited to, month and year end closings, audit preparations, tax filings and special projects as assigned.
Essential Functions (Including but not limited to):
- Prepare and record journal entries with understanding of debits and credits.
- Prepare monthly P&L variance analysis.
- Prepare monthly Balance Sheet account analysis.
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements.
- Record banking transactions and be able to perform bank reconciliations.
- Performs periodic internal audits and provide support for compliance activities.
- Perform any other duties as assigned in support of the company needs and operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 3-5 years of experience in an Accounting/Finance department
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office including advanced Excel-v-lookups, pivot tables, etc.
- Experience with Great Plains or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, income statements, and balance sheets.
- Experience with intercompany transactions a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to be able to analyze and interpret data and draw valid conclusions that show understanding and insight.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively under critical time frames and work on multiple assignments and complex and sensitive information.
- Ability to be extremely flexible and adaptable in completing a diverse range of assignments in a timely manner.
- Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks and workload seamlessly with keen attention to detail and follow-up.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and ability to apply good work habits to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the company/department.
This is an onsite position at our Edison, New Jersey office location.
