Assistant Contoller
The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in managing a company's financial activities, including preparing financial statements, managing accounting records, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Some Key Areas that this position focuses on are: Financial Reporting, Accounting Operations, Internal Controls, Compliance, Audit Support, Analysis and Reporting, Supervision, Reconciliations, Forecasting, Data Analysis.
Essential Functions (Including but not limited to):
- Manage the month-end closing process including journal entries, bank reconciliations, supporting all balance sheet accounts, and accruals. Research account activity as needed.
- Responsible for all facets of the expense allocation close process including reviewing and analyzing all expenses booked and understanding the related allocation methodologies of these expenses.
- Analyzing financial data, identifying trends, and preparing reports for management.
- Review fee related items (management fees, transaction fee offsets)
- Assist and resolve any consolidation issues.
- Help develop and maintain efficient internal controls and business processes.
- Continuously identify efficiencies and improve effectiveness by determining best practice.
- Interact with different departments.
- Responsible for monthly home office reporting under US GAAP & IFRS.
- Manage team of 6 Staff Accountants / Accounting Managers
- Assist with CPA audits and reviews.
- Assisting with annual audits and providing information to external auditors.
- Perform any other duties as assigned in support of the company needs and operations.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, 2 to 5+ years of related experience in a similar position or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- CPA preferred but not required.
- Experience with CPG and selling to large US retailers (Costco, Amazon, Wal-Mart, TJX, etc...)
- Advanced technology skills with experience with Excel, ERP systems (preferably Great Plains)
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on details and accuracy
- Maintain flexibility in a fast-paced environment and continuously evolve to meet changing business needs.
- An adaptive learner with strong professional curiosity and exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Professional demeanor with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a multi-tasking environment and display strong organizational, time management and project management skills.
- Highly self-motivated with the ability to remain focused and work with limited supervision, perform well under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and successfully meet deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Previous experience with international operations including Canada and Europe are a plus.
Workplace Type: On-site
Salary Range: $125,000 - $145,000
